nice Indonesia crowd Indeed. Here's hoping the lads are not too affected by the logistics issue. ETA: Dang....goal Indo. Not surprised though. They've been knocking since the start.

i thought we are testing the new lads but we still opt to play the old faces in "new" position. maybe this is the definition of new to them.
disappointed but still optimistic.

Our players appear sluggish, the Indonesians are looking far more sharp and faster on the ball. Lots of misplaced passes and hardly any effort to build up the offense from the back. Looks to me the team is just going through the motions. Hope they prove me wrong at the 2nd half.

i think the U23 players can't stand the pressure so it's better to not to field them except for Porteria or Angeles

Love the crowd, really a die hard football fans. From vuvuzelas, clothing, scarfs, flags, tarpaulins and even flares. Indonesia is really a football crazy country.
Now it's 2 - 0 Long pass, Long pass everywhere in our team. This should be refrained by our team. It's good that this is just a friendly. Weiss put the players not in their natural position.
The only bad thing in their lost this time is that for sure, solid basketball fans will troll and put football down since our Gilas made a big achievement in Asia. For sure Indonesians will troll us like now in Azkal FB Pages, I've seeing now in the FB pages.
I really hope this kind of play will change. The Reality: We still didn't beat Indonesia. This could be the South Korea (reference to their basketball team which Gilas didn't beat before) in the Azkals. Hoping for one day that we'll beat these Indonesians.

Lackluster and disjointed. We were out of rhythm throughout. The only positive I'm picking up from this one is that we were able to field younger defenders like Barbaso and Aguinaldo.

better second half for our team but still not enough. Porteria made an impact as a sub. Indonesia finally got their first win for this year, they also gave us our first defeat after a long long while. i wanted to see a rematch this time in our home ground

Will this have an effect on our FIFA ranking? This is an "A" international friendly, so it will surely affect the FIFA ranking of both sides.

I am utterly disappointed, totally disappointed. It's the worst defense I've seen since the Turkmenistan match in the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup. The blame could go either way - our players under-performed or Coach Weiss tactically got it all wrong. Ours isn't a full strength squad compared to the last meet with the Indonesians, but I expected they perform well. Inspite of that they played brave and fairly against a much superior Indonesian squad. We didn't resort into playing dirty like our opponents in previous encounters.
Again, this is another case of under-performance so evident in Coach Weiss. Utterly disappointing.

take a look on Simon McMenemy's view on last night's game Aug 2013 14/08 Resurgent Indonesia v Disjointed Philippines…. Watching the recent friendly between the two teams a couple of things are painfully obvious. Indonesia is back on the right track. While high-ranking officials in football offices around the country continue to run the league to their own financially and politically driven ideas, work on the field is improving greatly. Jackson has a youthful look to his team, with many of the old faces being moved on and young hungry players drafted in. The pool of talent that Thiago has to pull from is vast, strength coming off the bench is proof of that. Use of the recent friendlies again English Premier League opposition seems to have allowed the “testing” of possible players, positions and formations so much so that when they play against SE Asian opposition they look revitalized, motivated and dare I say it organized. Philippines on the other hand seem to be at a stalemate. Since 2010, the rise of interest in football within the islands has gone through the roof and the improvement in both results and FIFA standings is there for all to see without dispute. That rise in results can be attributed to the standard of player now being utilized with Shrock, Cagara and others all involved from good European leagues. Better players means better results. The challenge now is to make the step on from these original improvements. Good players will get you better results but in order to make that next step up the ladder, these good players need to be moulded into a good “team”. Recent showings have finished in satisfactory results but disjointed performances. With the majority of the strongest 11 flying in before big games, this will always be a tough situation to overcome, but certainly not impossible. Friendlies are opportunities to try players out, both in different positions and formations. With a lack of importance on the result it should be all about experience. With this friendly, while some of the big players from Europe where unavailable, it was good to see some new faces being given playing time yet still puzzling why some players are obviously being played out of position. Benefit of the doubt must go to the coach, as trying players in positions is of course what friendlies should be used for. As for a common formation and tactic that players could understand, it was tough to decipher based on simply watching the performance. True judgment will come when these games mean something. The development of the Azkals must continue in order to maintain not only the surge of interest in the game but also the support and development of the UFL which is after all where tomorrow’s Azkals will be learning their trade.
