well, the el-habib brothers didn't intend to grow-up here in order to play football in the National Team, right? and they pass through the normal channels like the locals did... so, they have something to connect through, unlike Gonzales of Indonesia(though he married an Indonesian) and Douthit of Smart-Gilas who applied for naturalization in order to play for the National Team...

still leaves a bad taste in the mouth. we are not like Singapore with an artificial population. We are a nation with a huge population. Naturalization to beef up our National Team just leaves a bitter taste.

Wow, for a country with more than 90 million people, we still have to recourse to naturalization just to strengthen our team?? So much for criticizing Indonesia for Gonzales. I hope PFF goes easy on this. Lol they are not just the only ones with naturalized players. USA has a TON of them (remember the popular Freddie Adu? He isnt with the team now, but that would be a good example), Vietnam has Kelsey Alves (Huynh Kelsey Alves), even Portugal has Deco, Pepe, Liedson who helped them with their last campaign! The list can go on and on, so IF PFF makes a big deal bout it, jsut tell them, if other countries can do it, why cant we?

Naturalization to beef up our National Team just leaves a bitter taste. as i've had said in the other thread, please let us not disqualify aspiring players based on race or origin. it reeks of racism. if the National Team pays a fortune to the players like the Singapore National Team then you might have a case but AzKals has no pay whatsoever. All they are after are the glory of playing for their adopted country. Besides, they didn't earn the slot automatically, they have slugged it out with other hopefuls be it a local or a Fil-For. If they are much better than the current locals, then why should we deny them the right to represent the Philippines. Also, if what I hear was correct, they have applied for citizenship and aspired to be an AzKal long before the AFF 2010 Suzuki Cup fame enveloped the current National squad they have been here since they were kids.

Bakdrap . Naturalization is normal this days. Those pure "blood line" concept is so old school. Vimjonk is right, they went thru try-outs, they were joining the Azkals practice or applied citizenship before this Azkal craze happened.

Accdg. to some reports, Schrock, Cagara and Lucena will be here right about the same time as Etheridge since they dont have to go through the try-outs. As for the Elhabib brothers, I have heard alot of great things about these 2 fine men that I can't wait to call them Filipinos! Cagara and Lucena not only have to solve passport/citizenship issues) but bec. they have already played games for the Danish youth teams have to apply for a one time switch from FIFA from Denmark to the Philippines to play for our national team. I seriously doubt they can do that in less than 3 weeks.

Well they (Cagara and Lucena ) are already aware of that for a long time now, i just hope they already started processing on that weeks ago. BTW My Ideal Starting 11 for the Azkals and their Formation.... ETHERIDGE (GK) Del Rosario (RB) Gier (CD) Borromeo (CD) Schrock (LB) De Jong (DM) Cagara (RWM) Lucena (CM) J. Younghusband (LWM) Gueridonn (Supporting Sriker) P. Younghusband (CF) Formation: 4-1-3-1-1 or 4-1-2-1-2 with Lucena going a attacking midfield... What you think?

Etheridge
Del Rosario Gier Jonsson Borromeo
Schrock Cagara/De Jong Lucena J. Younghusband
Araneta P. Younghusband
The back four should be kept in tact as much as possible since they know each other well, and although I don't know the exact positions of each, they should remain the back line.
Lucena and Cagara may be out of their natural position, but I would count on their experience and ball handling to be in the middle. They've also played together and know each other, so best to keep them close to each other. If Cagara is not fully recovered, then De Jong. The YH brothers should be close to each other, again because they know each other.
As for Araneta, although I have not seen full games, from what I see of the highlights I think there's talent there that just need coaching. Even at his age I feel like there are some aspects of his game that are coachable, and I'm hoping he's got that from McMenemy and that he's getting more from Weiss.

For me I don't think Araneta is that capable of being in the starting line-up. I've been watching him play in the AFF Suzuki cup and his first touch is not that good and he easily gets dispossessed of the ball. I've read scouting reports on Cagara and it says there that he is naturally a full back but can also play on the flanks so i put him on the Right Wing because we can ustilize his pace and talent as well as experience. With Schrock he can is naturally a fullback but also loves to go forward so i put him on the left side of defense so that he can play one-two with James Younhusband and then supply those quality crosses. With de jong, i put him as defensive midfield because he is a good link between the defense and midfield. And for Jerry Lucena, i put him on the center of tha park because thats his natural position and he can provide quality and experience and also as a distributor. Well for Gueridonn, I don't know any other good forwards that tried-out so i put him there as the Supporting striker because he is good with the ball and has good pace that gets easily pass defenders. And then the lone forward is Phil Younghusband.
-------------------------------------------Etheridge-------------------------------------------- Del Rosiario------------ Gier ------------------ Borromeo --------------- Schrock
------------------------------------- De Jong -------------------------------------------
Cagara ------------------------ Lucena ----------------------- J. Younghusband
------------------------------- Gueridonn ( or One of the Izzo Elhabib) ----------------
----------------------------------------------- Phil Younghusband ------------------------

A @caz, will it be broadcasted online though? There isnt any TFC here where I live in the US we can probably watch it on tfcnow. i think you can subscribe online, minimum of 2 days (not sure though). I hope they will not televise the game on Studio 23. This match deserves a primetime spot (teleserye mode off!!!!) on Ch 2. The other networks should give way, too, like show a crappy movie or something, just so everyone would tune in the game.

Is he good?correct me if i'm wrong sir, i think they(including guerridon) were not allowed to join the phil. team vs. the 2 games vs. mongolia, there was just simply not enough time to fix their papers for them to be included in the phil. team roster, maybe after the 2 games vs. mongolia !?!
