Philippines Coach Micahel Weiss: This is very disappointed game. Both teams had goal scoring chances. We settled down too deep. I wish we could have given more pressure after taking a lead. If we had full squad today, we would have beaten them. The levelling goal was unnecessary. The second goal which we conceded was due to mistake by defenders. But overall, we did good in the entire tournament. We are ambitious to play for third place. www.facebook.com/goalnepal

Can he be replaced just like that? IIRC, he was part of that $500,000 German Football League assistance package. In other words the DFB pays for his salary here. If we get rid of him we better make sure we have the money to pay someone with a bigger reputation and higher credentials. If I'm not mistaken, German FA pays for the salary of our National team Coach but Sir Dan was given the discretion to chose among many aspiring German coaches, and he picked Coach Weiss.

A fair assessment from Weiss, none of that pathetic excuse-making like the one from that TJK coach. I just want to know what he told the boys during half-time. Was it "we need another goal", or "relax, we'll get them on the counter"?

He should stay for now. Give him another year or two to fully develop the playing style that is appropriate for our skill level. Starting from scratch again with a new coach would be another setback. Meanwhile, we should deepen our bench so a suspension to 1 or 2 of our players won't be a big blow to our team's chances.

Now we already know why Coach Weiss is hesitant in making substitutions. And when he did this all happens...Heartbreaking talaga...Cant really explain my feeling after that 2nd goal of the turks..This is the first time nga na upset talaga in any football match..Iba talaga pag national team. And the azkals helps me experience it.Wala na tayong mawa..We still have 10 months to prepare for the suzuki cup...And cant really w8 on this...Lets move on na...

He is hesitant because he knows we still have a shallow bench. Most of the subs are either old, unreliable or have a lower skill level than those in the starting XI.

Coach Weiss has very solid credentials brought by his internship with super clubs Real Madrid, Arsenal, River Plate and FC Kaiserlautern. But the setback in his resume is he does not have solid actual coaching experience. Being the football director in Rwanda, I thought he is better as a football director than a manager/coach. However his coaching of the Azkals in this AFC Challenge Cup made Weiss deserving of another shot to stay with the Azkals. He already knows his players quite well and has built chemistry among them, so why not let him stay until the Suzuki Cup.

we never seem to get the break from the refs... that tackle on Phil should have been a red card or at the least it was a foul... I looked at the summary of our games we seem to be booked a lot 4 against NK, 2 against India and 4 against TJK... ironic when last 2010 suzuki Cup we were awarded with the fair play award...

Carli De Murga shown pinch-hitting for the thrown out Neil Etheridge, is a picture of agony in this photo with head down low. Carli was one of our real workhorse at the back-four, he gave us stability on defense and his hustle was simply admirable. Carli has no reason to put his head down low, he deserve to hold his head high. This young Spanish boy could carry the Azkals in the world cup someday.

Finally shook off the bitterness in me.. Had a smoke and grabbed a bite after that sad loss. We really missed the presence of JYH, Guirado and Sabio. Well, a loss is a loss and we can't do anything about it now. That's part of the game there will always be a winner and a loser. Too bad we were on the losing end. The best thing to do now is bounce back and win 3rd place with a bang!! We became complacent after that goal. allowing Turkmenistan to assert it's offense. And during the second half we dropped too deep and pretty much just defended. And that last goal no one really committed. there were at least 4 blue shirts just watching. I don't want to blame Gener but he made a lot of blunders on his side. The coach should've remained Jonsson on his spot. Gener could play on the wings as he is a midfielder and sometimes a forward in the Army. We had a lot of missed chances. The point blank shot of Ray, JDJ's effort. We were just not too aggressive during the second half. It's just kinda upsetting because we made the first goal from a very good effort and we blew it off. Neil's foul was really stupid, showed his frustration after that second goal and also showed that he's still young and immature. He will learn from this and become a better keeper next time. I am a bit disappointed that we came up short but over all we have made great leaps in the world of football. No one was expecting that we would be in the semis. So Kudos still to the boys! ;D It's not the end of the world yet. There will always be a next time. with a better line up, deeper bench and better plays we would someday win it! It's not yet our time but we've already made a statement that Philippines is a team to watch and that the oldest FA in Asia has finally woken up from it's slumber and they be wary of the AZKALS!!!
