I hope he gets his chance at Fulham, or at least get a loan to a 2nd tier or lower-half-table club in the prem!

Not really news...
Just good to know that he was in the bench all the time that Schwarzer was absent due to the Asian Cup. Would've been nice if Fulham released him earlier though, since Schwarzer is back in action. Now he only has a few days to practice.

If Im not mistaken he is the number 1 keeper there for Fulham. They mite need him for some game coz it usualy runs the same time with the 1st team league proper.

just my 2 cents,
I would think that Neil would do good in either the Championship, SPL (scottish), or even here in the US.... Only catch is that He needs to be more scouted upon.... That is the reason why he is willing to take financial sacrifices (aside from Nationalistic pride) to join hte team. More playing time facing tougher challenges, more scouts would be watching.

HOWEVER, in the long run, Neil is a valuable asset. He may be currently their number 3 or 4, but if Fulham is looking at long term prospects, he is one of the names to look upon. I could not think of any players that is of the same caliber as he is (aside from Areola) that age-wise, would be at the same range as Neil. To think about it also, with his participation with the Azkals, he is also sacrificing potential playing time with other teams. If youre on loan with a team (as several england u-21 gk's are, with the exclusion of joe hart who is #1 @ man cty) it is a risk factor that they have to consider also. thus hes not doing any loan spells with anyone.

Fulham InternationalsMonday 7th February 2011 David Stockdale’s call-up to Fabio Capello’s England squad on Saturday night has grabbed the headlines over the past few days, with the keeper’s consistently outstanding form during the month of January rewarded with a first international call-up. Fulham fans will be hoping to see Stockdale in action on Wednesday night in Copenhagen but there are also a number of other international matches to keep an eye out for over the coming days. The action kicks-off on Tuesday night when Damien Duff and Stephen Kelly are likely to feature for the Republic of Ireland against Wales in Dublin. Also on Tuesday youngsters Neil Etheridge and Gael Kakuta will be in action for the Phillipines and France (U21) respectively. Then, on Wednesday night, there are a further nine international matches that could potentially feature Fulham players, including, of course, David Stockdale. PH goalie may miss 2nd gameCedelf P. Tupas First Posted 12:12:46 11/02/2011 BACOLOD CITY—Philippines’ goalkeeper Neil Etheridge has expressed doubts of his availability for the second leg of the Azkals’ AFC Challenge Cup qualifying duel against Mongolia in Ulan Bator. Etheridge said commitments with his club, Fulham, could prevent him from joining the team in the Mongolian capital on March 15, where the Philippines will try to preserve a 2-0 lead in the home leg. If the Azkals hold on to their lead or even score an away win, they will move on to the second round of qualifying in Chittagong, Bangladesh from March 21 to 30. “I will be away for too long and the club may not allow that,” said the 21-year-old Etheridge. “But of course, I am also considering the importance of the match.” Etheridge, third in Fulham’s goalkeeper list, was busier playing in the outfield rather than making saves in Wednesday night’s match as the Mongolians offered little attacking threat. The shutout victory kept Etheridge’s record of not conceding a goal at home. Etheridge has not given up a single goal in four games when matches are played in the Philippines. Etheridge is set to negotiate a new deal with Fulham when he returns to London this weekend. After signing one-year contracts in the past years, the 6-foot-3 keeper has finally caught the eye of the London-based squad as a long-term prospect. The new contract, Etheridge said, will run for a minimum of two years. Link: www.inquirer.net/sports/articles/PH-goalie-may-miss-2nd-game.html

Well, I've been wanting to have him included in the team as another option. We need backup in case Neil is not available. Or much better if both of them are available to add another quality player on the bench. As of now, All I know is Roland is still trying to secure his Philippine passport. Hopefully, the rest of guys can secure their passports as well in time for the 2nd leg in Mongolia.

If he is interested and his team is promoted to the Bundesliga, and Areola is also interested, then we will have players from the Premiership, the Bundesliga, and the Ligue 1 vying for a position with the Azkals.
Imagine that!
