The Philippine badly needs a National League with a good structure and a very competitive format. A merger of UFL and Smart Club National is a good idea. They may call it a "National Football Primera Liga" or "NFPL". PFF and Football Alliance can work on it thru PPP or Public Private Partnership. It will be a big development and a game changer in Philippine sports and business.

Look, this was a pissing contest between Myanmar officials and the POC/PSC. What the latter did was try to send a strong enough SEAG team to embarrass Myanmar. Sadly, the PFF was the victims here. However, instead of whining and bitching about it, make some phone calls and set up a 10/12 match schedule against various u-23 sides. Call the USSF and the CSA. U23 vs Canada in Vancouver and Toronto, then play the USA U-23 in Harrison, NJ and San Francisco(For example). Take on the Caribbean U-23 sides that are in the same developmental process like Puerto Rico, Haiti and Dominican Republic. Build for the next time and the 2015 AFC Championships and the 2018 World Cup. The PFF needs to get serious about development, and not rely on others to do it for them. Stop whining and make the calls (and not to Guam or Singapore, either).

@piacayetano on football: People expect to see Filipino football players in SEAG. PSC's job should be to work w/PFF to help U23 team.
@piacayetano: I will fight for these people who have made the choice to be full time athletes.
good to see Sen. Cayetano really fight for our athletes' chances to compete in the SEA games

MAS especially their coach is excited about this date. Datuk Ong, Look Out for 6 NovemberKUALA LUMPUR (24 Oct 2013) – DATUK ONG KIM SWEE, please mark 6 Nov down in your diary. That’s because the eagerly awaited SEA games football draw is due to take place then in Naypyitaw, Myanmar. Millions of football fans throughout the region have been anxiously waiting for the draw, for what is considered the most important football tournament after the AFF Suzuki Cup. www.aseanfootball.org/v2/?p=14612
Nov 6 is the draw, will our U-23 have hopes to participate in this tourney for younger talents in SEA or PSC/POC closed the doors for them despite the senate intervention?

Would you support this for the sake of Philippine sports? First Sen. Cayetano defends the athletes this time it's Sen. Trillanes Trillanes files raps vs PSC, POC over release of funds to bogus sports groupsBy Maila Ager INQUIRER.net 11:35 am | Wednesday, October 30th, 2013 MANILA, Philippines – Senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV on Wednesday filed a malversation case before the Office of the Ombudsman against the heads of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) and others for the release of PSC funds to alleged bogus National Sports Associations. Trillanes himself announced this during the hearing of the Senate sub-finance committee on the PSC’s budget proposal for 2014. He said the case was filed against POC president Jose “Peping” Cojuangco Jr., uncle of President Benigno Aquino III, and PSC chairman Richie Garcia, among others. “I’d like to inform the committee, just this morning, I filed a malversation case in the Ombudsman against chairman Richie Garcia, Mr. Peping Cojuangco and some other people in relation to the release of PSC funds to bogus NSAs,” Trillanes said. “So that’s my main issue against the PSC. You have become a rubberstamp of Mr. Peping Cojuangco and we have to put a stop to that…” he said. Despite this, Trillanes promised not to block the “legitimate support” to other NSAs. Let's see what would happen next. Will this affect the Philippine contingents including our U-23? Senate is now putting pressure on them.

IIRC This was about the PSC and POC handling out to bogus fake NSAs, a la "Janet Lim Napoles-style" lang. I heard the sports involved/affected were Men's Volleyball, Chess and Amateur boxing. Kaya siguro may rift ngayon si Wesley So sa NCFP because of lack of funding, as said by cjeagle. Complete outrage! Is all hope gone for the U-23? Don't be surprised during the draw if the PHI team isn't there, OK?

Let's see what would happen next. Will this affect the Philippine contingents including our U-23? Senate is now putting pressure on them. It's probably no wonder why a high profile person/ex politician(Peping) would want to lord over an entity such as the POC. If there weren't any money in it, he wouldn't be there in the first place. You can bet your last centavo he and his cohorts are enjoying some or most of that missing money right about now.

RT @bhaskunju: So to wrap up the excitement from today, Myanmar IOC accepted Philippines' withdrawal just few hours ago & they will be removed from Group A
RT @cedelfpt: On PH being part of the draw n SEAG football: chef de mission Jeff Tamayo said they have informed Myanmar that no team will be sent. Tamayo said they're communication to SEA Games org committee may not have been relayed to those running the football competition
You know the two persons to blame. >.<
