Easy there Mr. Football! At the end of the day, if you want to grow football in the Philippines you will need to keep the "bandwagoner" on their seat to support the growth and provide resources. For that to happen the Azkals will need to keep on winning. The Azkals need the Schrock, Etheridge, Younghusband keep the bandwagonners seated to continue the growth of this game in the Philippines. You think the Sato and Daniels sells ticket and promote the game? I dont believe so, not to a Schrock or Etheridge extent atleast... Mr and Mrs. Football like you couldnt even sellout Rizal in the semi-finals of the biggest tournament in SEA! You talk about long term and you dismiss Northern Philippines? For this game to grow long term in the Philippines, you need Luzon not the Visayas, not the Mindanao! Sure you can pack stadiums in Cebu right now, but in the long run you need to fill up Rizal or the Phil Stadium not just Panaad. I beg to disagree sir boybato. What we really need is stability, not popularity. Winning all the time doesn't guarantee us more future attendance, its more of a marketing issue considering Phil's #1 sport today is still basketball amongst others. Schrock, Etheridge, etc may draw out some fans but its the entire team whom true fans will come to watch, winning or losing. Bandwagonners are common to uprising NFT's, they will come and go. True fans last a lifetime. Mr. hat3rick is not explicitly implying dissing out Luzon, rather stating the fact to sort out infra on other locations. RMS and Phil.Stadium maybe the most viable venues of today, but in the near future Visayas & Mindanao will have also. What I really learn in playing this sport (for half of my life) is that stability needs perseverance and a lot of patience. Fans need to do the same. That is not Mr. Football ... It is Your Royal Highness. Your mindset is all about immediate fangirl gratification, which I mentioned in my post. Your mindset is also about Marketing and selling a show or stage act ... totally different from gradual development of football. And since you did not read my post very carefully, you missed out on the fact that I talked, we all have talked, about long-term growth. Yes, bandwagon supporters come and go. True football fans don't care about them because they are never around for the "lows" in the football timeline, but always seem to be conveniently present during the "highs." Your argument is weak because it's all about putting on a show, a Marketing scheme. Not about the growth of football. The North has never cared about the game, but they want to hold the reins? ... hold the reins only to prevent its growth. The game belongs in the hands of people who have it flowing in their veins. People who live and breathe the beautiful game. Even though the PFF's main office is sadly in Manila, I am just grateful that Mariano and Dan are in charge. They may not be the best leaders, but they at least love the game and are doing their best to keep it alive. Get your nose out of the fashion and gossip magazines and start thinking like a REAL football supporter. Marketing a CIRCUS is NOT the key to football's growth ... It's the development of the game itself. It's about FOOTBALL. You may kiss my hand and leave now.

*sigh* C'mon people. There's no need for insults. Nobody really wins on the internet.
Look at the Indonesian guy here... he's giving us some love. It's time we have a lovefest.
It's Christmas afterall!

Football does not belong to just a region but to the entire country. The reason they hold most of the games in Manila is because of lack of suitable venues in the South and to maximize revenue. If a city or private entity would build a world class stadium in the Visayas or Mindanao that they can prove they can sell out(at the prices you saw in the Suzuki Cup), I am sure they would hold more games there. Right now, I would only consider the new Philippine Sports Stadium as meeting those standards, and I would prefer having most of the games there than at Rizal. If they can arrange for shuttle buses from the nearest transportation hub, I think the fans will travel there, because it such a nice stadium.
The reality is most advertising and sponsorship companies prefer the games to be in the NCR, because that is where majority of their potential customer base is at. Tickets are not enough to justify moving it elsewhere(unless it is within reasonable driving distance like at the PSS), especially since, even though there are more hard core fans down south, who watch the games, they have yet to prove that they can sell out those same number of seats at the inflated prices that the PFF and the AFF mandates during their premier tournaments.

wow~!.. 2-0 cushion for HT.. 80k plus fans are getting their money's worth., 2nd half would be very interesting., It would show MAL's veteran players composure and THAI's younger players hunger., Very good way to end a cup.
