Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,
Merry Xmas and Blessed New Year 2016 greeting to everyone here from Malaysia.
Perhaps some of you may remembered me ( I was invited to join this forum sometime back but I had been busy of late, My sincere apologies for my long absent ). It is interesting to read everyone views and opinions here on the Azkals. a team that caught my eyes during their first ever semi final two leg matches against Indonesia which they lost by just a slim goal margin. It is also heartening to see there had been football school academy held in The Philippines, ( I visited one of them two years ago ).
When i first saw the Azkals played ( semi final match against Indonesia,I knew that this is the team to watch in future to come. Even in The Philippines, despite the amazing achievement there were still many who doubted. I wrote in one of The Philippines news sports article comment column, that this is the team to watch out for despite those who still doubted. Football in the Philippines has been revived after a long absent . I hope it will remain and continue to grow in both development and progress in The Philippines where basketball and boxing sports still seems to be more of popular sports over the beautiful game football, but I believe that this time the beautiful game will stay for good in The Philippines although there is still hard work ahead.
Aside from the Thais who play exciting offensive attacking football ( it has always been Thai football culture way back from early 60"s to what ever present formation, their football culture has always been offensive ), The Azkals is the other of the two exciting teams to watch. I think in order to sustain and to more supports from the ground ( fans ) and funds ( from both government and public sectors ), the Azkals need to win trophies and medals eg Sea Games. They had come so close in recent tournaments like the Challenge Cup. I hope to see the Azkals standing on winning podium in near future to come cos good football teams like the Azkals deserve trophies and medals.
Thank You Sir/Madam

it's always interesting to hear the footballing thoughts of our foreigner friends especially if it's done in a civil manner. thanks for the insights and heart fattening (nakakatabang puso or in proper english i guess its equivalent to flattering ) encouraging words peteryang57 and bobisakaya. now that the 2014 edition of the suzuki cup is over and done with, i guess it's back to the drawing board for everyone involved in philippine football. it's been quite a ride this year, and hopefully we all can cruise further into international football respectability let's go, philippines!

I really enjoyed the 2014 Suzuki Cup. Thailand fully deserved to win. They've really set the bar for us.
Here's to a great year. Bring on 2015!

This from a story in the BBC on possible transfers in the January window. Looks like our neighbors are attracting attention. linkIndonesia EVAN DIMAS (19, midfielder) Persebaya Surabaya The wonderkid impressed on his senior debut in 2014 and has already trained at FC Barcelona. Looks to be the creative force that this football mad country has been waiting for. Inter's Indonesian owner Erick Thohir is said to be a fan but a smaller league would be a better first step. Thailand CHANATHIP SONGKRASIN (21, midfielder) BEC Tero Sasana Known as 'Messi Jay' by fans in Thailand for his small stature and skills, the youngster has been in perfect form this year, leading Thailand to the ASEAN title to end a 12-year wait for major international silverware. A longer shot but clubs in Europe are waking up to this young talent.
